Here is a new one

New series!

Here is a sneak preview from a new series of paintings I will be unveiling at my next exhibition. Check back for more to come!

Artist Statement

Welcome to my site! My name is Marilynn Bracken and I am an abstract artist from Alberta, Canada. Lately, I have been painting large abstract oil paintings. I enjoy using large and often irregular shaped canvases as it challenges my application of colour and line. I will use palette knives, brushes, drips, or splashes! ...whatever it takes to create the movement in my paintings. I have always been influenced, and amazed, by the colour theories of the French Impressionists. I like to think that my daring and uninhibited use of colour allows my paintings to take on a life of their own. Hopefully, they'll capture a moment in your imagination as well. "Thanks" to the Group of 7 - I also love to create strong landscape paintings. Heavy texture is another mainstay of my artwork. My goal as an artist is to hold the viewer's interest and to take them through the painting again and again. Please drop by my studio and encounter me at work. It's an opportunity to share in the atmosphere and feel the creativity.
